D.1 Observation in Nature — One Isolated Recoil at the Water-Seed Laboratory
While physics gets excited about dark matter, the same flash is already accounted for as an Earth-centred observation.
On 1 September 2026, at TeVPA in Tendō, Japan, the LUX-ZEPLIN Collaboration reported one candidate in an extended nuclear-recoil window. After fiducial selection in a 2.84 tonne-year exposure, a single event remains, consistent with an elastic nuclear recoil of
Enr = 248 ± 23 (stat) ± 23 (sys) keV,
recorded at 21:22:39 UTC on 16 June 2023, 26.4 cm above the cathode and well inward of the TPC wall. It sits 1.5σ below the modelled NR-band median and 6.7σ below the ER-band median. Global significance against background-only is 2.6σ; maximum local significance 3.4σ. The Collaboration does not claim discovery.¹ ² ³
That is the observation. The interpretation offered by the particle programme is an incoming WIMP, or an inelastic / absorptive dark-matter channel tuned to land near 248 keV.⁴ ⁵ The Pirate Canon reading is different, and it does not require a new particle from a halo.
Earth is the Rest-Time centroid 0i2, the water-seed, the PNON. The observable cosmos is the inertial lattice of Reynolds grains in normal piling; Earth rotates daily inside a pinned cavitation bubble. The atmosphere is the phase-enforced viscous skin of that bubble. The CMB₁ is the outer spherical elastica — the same meniscus seen at last-scattering distance and, by orthogonal twist, at the planetary core.⁶ ⁷ ⁸ ⁹
Liquid xenon in the Sanford cavern is not outside this geometry. It is a noble-liquid patch of the same continuum, sitting inside the Earth-centred cavitation, nearly a mile below the surface membrane. An NR-looking flash in that patch is therefore a local elastica event before it is a galactic collision.
The spherical elastica is bistable: State A (flat, tension-dominated disc) and State B (inverted spherical shell). The energy barrier between them is crossed by dilatancy snap — Reynolds shear-thickening of the grain pack, Lewe sudden fixation (Sm⁴), ring-tension judder, Love-wave break of the meniscus. Sonoluminescence already shows the laboratory form of the same toggle: collapse of a Reynolds surface, State A → State B, compact energy dump.¹⁰ ¹¹ ¹²
A recoiling xenon nucleus is the detector’s name for that dump. Compact track, suppressed S2/S1, isolated in the NR band: exactly what a short, high-density cavitation recoil produces when the local membrane snaps and reseats. One event at ~248 keV is the expected rarity of a phase-locked transition, not the first count of a constant halo flux.
“Dark matter,” in this Appendix, is already named: the inviscid gaps between nested force-spheres. The LZ flash is a minute, local expression of that cavitation dynamics inside the water-seed laboratory. If the membrane is settling, the outlier fades. If the clock is still ticking, further isolated snaps appear at related energies, phase-locked to the Rest-Time / microseismic / CMB pulse, rather than accumulating as a steady WIMP rate.¹³ ¹⁴
The observation itself sits cleanly on the Earth-centred elastica already written in this Appendix, no dark matter necessary.
