Why is φ unsettled?
The ratio φ = (1 + √5)/2 ≈ 1.618 never completes. Its conjugate is 1/φ = φ − 1 ≈ 0.618. The reason for unsettled is that the residual never reaches 2, it is written 2 = 1.999…. Ace names this residual the open auxetic ratio. The engine that exchanges the two readings is involution.
Involution is the binary toggle. State A writes 1/φ ⇒ 1 − φ. State B writes 1 − φ ⇒ 1/φ. One residual is held open or spent. No third state appears. The Geometric Force of Involution is σ_m/s², the ring tension that maintains the shortfall. Height of the ring is K, the station of σ on the wall of the cylindrical shell. K is read from the coefficient tables of ‘Circular Concrete Tanks Without Prestressing‘ (PCA, 1993; Domel & Gogate), which descend from Lewe 1915 without reference. The continuous second is the Observational face that remains once the residual itself is unnamed.
