Spatial and Temporal Mechanisms Made Visible
The Dehnad–Lega–Konopka preprint (The genetic signature of memory encoding along the human hippocampal axis, bio Rxiv 10.64898/2026.06.22.733862) maps encoding-related oscillatory signatures directly onto cell-type-resolved transcriptomics from the same individuals. Anterior low-frequency SMEs couple to synaptic and chromatin-regulatory programs; posterior high-frequency SMEs couple to metabolic and protein-synthesis programs. This is the discovery of the Spatial Mechanism. The complementary axis is Temporal: frequency bands are the temporal expression of the same bistable operator.
