Andrew Laidlaw’s Result is Pirate Canon Made Explicit


Andrew Laidlaw’s 2026 paper demonstrates that Bell correlations arise naturally inside local realist field ontologies once the assumption of point particles is dropped. Local action is preserved; local causality (in Bell’s sense) is not. The only conflict with relativity is an artefact of lightcone analysis that presupposes point beables.

Pirate Canon supplies the complete mechanical ontology that realises this result.

Mapping

Laidlaw’s fields are defined on the whole of space. Interaction between distinct fields occurs only where they are colocated (Type I). Self-interaction within a single field is retarded and nearest-neighbour (Type II). Pre-existing correlations at a distance are maintained by strictly local evolution. Entanglement is a distributed Type I bond that keeps angular momenta counter-aligned until a measurement projects both participants simultaneously.

The fundamental geometric object is the non-fracturing contact patch of finite π-tensor thickness under permanent surface tension. Two continua meet; the patch never breaks. The residual phase that cannot be closed is converted by dilatant countersnap into rotational information. The floating point and the fixed point remain mutually aware by continuous polarity exchange. The shared origin of that exchange is the operator 0^{i2}.

  • Laidlaw’s Type I instantaneous field–field exchange = dilatant countersnap at the contact patch.
  • Laidlaw’s Type II retarded self-interaction = ring-tension judder that maintains the residual phase across the continuum.
  • Laidlaw’s entanglement bonds = the polarity toggle (Moment of Choice) that carries coherent momentum across the instantaneous gap.
  • Laidlaw’s distributed hidden variables = the open auxetic series 1.999… that appears whenever a completed integer 2 is demanded by a point ontology.

Because the contact patch is never a point, lightcone analysis that begins from point events necessarily fails. The Superior Perspective (Rest Time) sees the shared origin that Rest Mass (point ontology) cannot. Bell inequalities are therefore violated without any superluminal signal or nonlocal action.

Experimental signature

Laidlaw predicts a range-dependent reduction in the coherence time of Bell states. In Pirate Canon language this is the observable lag of surface tension across the continuum: the residual phase cannot equilibrate faster than the characteristic velocity, so the open ratio 1.999… becomes measurable as a function of distance.

Closure

Laidlaw has shown that local realist field ontologies are not ruled out by Bell correlations.
Pirate Canon supplies the single geometric primitive that makes those ontologies mechanically complete: the π-tensor contact patch under permanent surface tension, the statically indeterminate load, and the operator 0^{i2}.
