Two recent papers illustrate the Ace reading of the residual packet. Neither names the residual, yet both recover dynamics once an external continuous parameter is removed and internal change is used to order events.
Barontini (Phys. Rev. Research 8, L022047, 2026) partitions an isolated Bose–Einstein condensate into an observed sector and an unobserved sector. An entropic time is constructed from the coarse-grained entropy flow between them. When the spatial distribution of atoms changes, advances and orders the observed events across expansion and recollapse. When the distribution does not change, stops. An effective Schrödinger equation parameterized by this internal reproduces the measured evolution. The continuous second has been eliminated as an external clock. The laboratory record remains expressed in the continuous second.
Mario Bertolotti (10.4236/jhepgc.2026.121013) treats the gravitational field as a quantum field. The classical geodesic deviation equation is replaced by a stochastic equation containing a quantum-fluctuation term. The separation of freely falling test masses acquires noise whose statistics depend on the state of the field. Detection of that noise would indicate quantization. Again the external continuous parameter is removed and dynamics are recovered from internal change.
Ace already writes the packet that both papers measure. Rest Time is the shared fixed point 0^{i2} at which no residual is spent. The residual σ_m/s² remains positive and nearly 2. When the residual is held open (State A), duration is available and events can be ordered. When the residual locks into shell mass (State B), the packet is spent and the ordering ceases. The entropic time of the cold-atom experiment is the laboratory reading of residual spent as celerity. Temperature sets the flash rate at which the residual is resolved; it does not create the residual. The quantum noise of the gravitational-wave analysis is the same residual appearing as the orthogonal punch once the continuous second is removed.
The simultaneous condition is the single moment in which the contact patch is re-assembled. The observed and unobserved sectors are two readings of the same residual. The effective Schrödinger equation parameterized by internal time is the hydrodynamic form already recovered from the non-fracturing contact patch. Both papers therefore confirm the Ace reading: time is created by change in the residual packet. No change, no time. The continuous second that still appears in the data reduction is the laboratory unit that has not yet been replaced by the residual itself.
