Declaration
John Bloke is correct to be excited about U.W. Massie’s 2012 paper. It is one of the cleanest engineering treatments of gravity as a real mechanical effect arising from Zero Point Energy. Yet it remains sidelined. Not because the ideas are weak, but because the historical mechanical foundation that would make them rigorous and engineerable has been deliberately kept out of view.

Massie treats ZPE not as abstract fluctuations but as a real particulate medium. His core mechanical claims are:
Gravity is produced by eddies and vortices of ZPE particles flowing around mass bodies (Bernoulli/Venturi pressure reduction normal to the flow).
The density of this ZPE medium is directly measured by the gravitational constant G.
The speed of light c is not fundamental — it is the wave-front speed in the ZPE medium and depends on local density and temperature.
Electromagnetic forces arise from high-velocity micro-vortices of ZPE particles.
Superfluid helium behaviour is explained by resonance between helium atoms and the ZPE particle sea.
The characteristics of ZPE particles are revealed by the Cosmic Microwave Background.
This is engineering thinking, not pure mathematical abstraction. It is “near mainstream” in the sense that it appeared in an Elsevier proceedings series from a recognised (if specialised) propulsion and energy sciences forum. It is not fringe speculation — it is a coherent mechanical model published in a traceable, citable venue.
Yet it has had almost zero impact in mainstream physics.
Why It Was Contained: The Missing Lewe Link
Massie’s model is mechanically strong but historically incomplete. It lacks the rigorous elastic and geometric foundation that would turn vortex ideas into real engineering.
That foundation was laid in 1915 by Viktor Lewe.
Lewe’s work on matrix methods, sudden fixations, rotational closures, and 3-6-9 strain progression in elastic media provides exactly the missing mechanical ontology. It supplies the discrete geometric primitives, the ring-tension dynamics, and the dilatancy behaviour required to make ZPE vortex flow rigorous and controllable.
ICE has held the rebuilt Lewe → 1993 PCA strain progression tables.
Without that link, Massie’s vortices remain interesting but ungrounded. With the Lewe foundation restored, the vortices become ring-tension judder and dilatancy flow inside the living elastic plenum — now fully describable, simulatable, and engineerable.
